Geo locations

Are you making the most of your location feature? Chances are you might have ignored the geolocation tag option available for each post. Don’t overlook this important tool, after all one of the best things about Instagram is its ability to reach people all around the globe. Geotagging is incredibly efficient at segmenting the population for you. That means with a simple click of a location you can instantly target your posts towards specific regions or nearby followers. But wait there’s more! Doing this will ensure anyone who looks up the geotag for that selected area will automatically see your posts. Think of all the new people you can reach!

Hashtags

Similar to geotagging, hashtags are a great way to get your content noticed by your desired audience. Simply choose a selection of relevant features, concepts or areas relating to your post and add them to your comment section. Our suggestion is limiting yourself to no more than 20 hashtags. While they can be helpful, you don’t want to risk overcrowding your post with irrelevant hashtags that take away from the polished look of your content. We also recommend staying away from hashtags that are too popular as it will make your content less likely to appear at the top of the feed when individuals search the tag.

Tagging

Chances are you know the importance of tagging. But instead of limiting yourself to the tagging feature on the images itself why not incorporate these accounts in the caption too? Another way to make the most of this feature is to find other relevant accounts to link to your picture. This will mean that their audience will see your posts if they choose to look in their tagged posts. This is a handy way to encourage cross promotion. A bonus is if the account itself chooses to like or comment on your post, boosting your engagement in the process.

Image dimensions

Optimise your feed and make it look fantastic by avoiding awkwardly cropped pictures. We’ve all been there! A beautiful post can look downright confusing when it doesn’t fit neatly in the predetermined grid space. A great way to stop this from happening is to ensure all your pictures are uploaded with the right dimensions. Our go to is 1080 width by 1080 height!

Videos

It’s no secret that videos are great for engagement. But why is this? The answer is simple their interactive nature encourages more clicks, higher levels of engagement and are generally a great way to condense a lot of information. When posting video content be sure to keep in mind the length needs to be under one minute when scheduled. If posting directly on the app you have more leeway but it’s always advisable to keep it short and sweet where possible.
